The Red Bull boss
Marko happy: “Perez was better than expected!”
Signs and wonders are still happening: after qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix, Red Bull motorsport consultant Helmut Marko was impressed not only by pole-setter Max Verstappen, but also by number 2 driver Sergio Perez! "Perez was better than expected, he has improved incredibly," said the 80-year-old Styrian about the Mexican who finished in second place ...
The satisfaction is no coincidence, as the last time Perez was on the front row of the grid was in Miami in the pre-season. "I have to think back a long time," said Marko in the ORF interview.
"That's what makes the difference in the end!"
The Red Bull boss cited the change in attitude as the reason for the improvement, with Perez no longer trying to go his own technical way. "The cars are almost identical in terms of set-up, that's what ultimately makes the difference."
The main reason for Red Bull's overall dominance in Japan, however, was that the team immediately put the update they had brought with them into effect.
