The Edmonton Oilers have reached the playoffs in the North American NHL! 

The Canadians won the top game against the Colorado Avalanche 6-2 on Friday (local time) and can no longer be displaced from one of the top eight places in the Western Conference.

The reason for this were defeats by the Washington Capitals against the Carolina Hurricanes and the Detroit Red Wings against the current best team in the league, the New York Rangers.
