James son Bronny registers for NBA draft
Bronny James, son of basketball legend LeBron James, wants to play in the NBA like his father! The 19-year-old will register for the draft for the North American professional league, he wrote on his Instagram account on Friday.
In the draft, the NBA teams secure the rights to the best young players. At the same time, he also entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal, leaving open the option of playing in college. James currently plays at the University of Southern California.
Has a congenital heart defect
"I've had a year with some ups and downs, but everything has made me grow as a person, student and athlete," wrote the 1.93-meter tall point guard. He suffered a cardiac arrest during training in July last year. According to examinations, he has a congenital heart defect.
Just under five months later, Bronny James was back on the field. Whether he can take part in the draft depends on the NBA's medical team. Only after a positive assessment will James be allowed to register for the draft.
His father (39) dreams of playing in the NBA with him one day. LeBron James' contract with the Los Angeles Lakers runs until the summer of 2025, but "King James" could opt out of it next summer and move to another club as a free agent.
