The two underdogs in the Champions Group of the Bundesliga shared the points in a turbulent match. Austria Klagenfurt and TSV Hartberg drew 2:2 (1:2) in Klagenfurt on Sunday to earn their first points in the third round of the Champions Group. Andrew Irving saved the draw for the Carinthians with a converted penalty in the 98th minute.

Hartberg had twice taken the lead through a penalty from Maximilian Entrup (25') and the strong Dominik Prokop (45.+1), Kosmas Gkezos (28') and Irving twice tied the scores. As a result, Hartberg are still winless after seven Bundesliga duels with Klagenfurft (five defeats, two draws).

Klagenfurt posed major problems for the Hartberg defense in the first half hour. Goalscorer Sinan Karweina had two great chances in the opening stages, but shot over (6th) and headed wide (7th). Markus Schopp's team then also produced some good attacking moves and finally took the lead with a controversial penalty. Jannick Robatsch slightly pulled Prokop in the penalty area, who went down. Entrup converted the penalty safely (25').

Hartberg set the tone in the first half
Just three minutes later, Gkezos got the equalizer he deserved when he thundered the ball into the net from close range following a free-kick (28'). However, Hartberg got a better grip on the lively game and became really dangerous several times in the final stages of the first half. A shot from Ruben Providence grazed the crossbar (43') before Hartberg took the lead in stoppage time. A header from Jürgen Heil was saved by goalkeeper Philip Menzel, but Prokop successfully dusted it off (45.+1). Entrup then even had the chance to score a third goal (45.+5).

Hartberg took the momentum into the second half. The Styrians created a number of chances to go ahead, perhaps the best of which was missed by ÖFB team striker Entrup, who failed to beat Menzel (62'). The visitors were also lucky that referee Florian Jäger rescinded a red card against Heil after a VAR check (75').

Penalty in stoppage time
In the final phase, Klagenfurt fought back against defeat and also got into promising situations. Jonas Arweiler (72'), Christopher Wernitzing (81') and Sky Schwarz (82') were unable to take advantage of these, but Peter Pacult's team were rewarded with the last action. After a free-kick, Hartberg goalkeeper Raphael Sallinger cleared Nicolas Binder out of the way in an aerial challenge and Irving converted the penalty safely.
