Officials at the table
New access for party negotiations in the city
Bernhard Auinger continues to break with existing traditions in the formation of his Salzburg city government. What was new was that the new city councillors will start the party talks with their portfolios already allocated. Discussions on the priorities for the next five years will continue in an unconventional way. "We will completely reorganize these negotiations," Auinger announces.
The heads of department will sit down with the respective heads of department of the municipal council and draw up a proposal, which will then be discussed in the large party round. Suggestions from the parliamentary groups will then be incorporated. This will result in a program with a list of projects that will be binding over the next five years. The talks will start with Auinger's Department 2, i.e. childcare, culture and sport.
There arealready concrete plans for housing
The future Deputy Mayor Kay-Michael Dankl (KPÖ Plus) already has concrete plans for housing. As reported, the city wants to buy plots of land itself in future in order to have non-profit housing built there. "Especially where the non-profit organizations can't build."
ÖVP city deputy Florian Kreibich emphasizes that he did not come out of the negotiations badly. "Division 1 is not a sideshow. I'm looking forward to it," he says. As reported, Kreibich will be responsible for the district administration, the public order office and the health department, among other things. Anna Schiester (Citizens' List) has to plan on two tracks as a prospective city councillor for transport. With and without S-Link.
A lot of work awaits the government in the area of care
In the planning department, she inherits the completion of the spatial development concept, the planning basis for the next 20 years. Andrea Brandner retains the Social Welfare Department for the SPÖ and also gets the City Gardens. There is a lot of work to be done in the social services department in particular when it comes to care. "We have challenges here, but also solutions," she says.
