Liverpool are the old and new soccer leaders of the English Premier League! Coach Jürgen Klopp's team won at home against Sheffield United with a little luck and effort, but ultimately deservedly so. The home win saw the Reds displace Arsenal from the top of the table after 24 hours. 

The Reds prevailed 3-1 against the bottom of the table, but benefited from a mega blunder by the visitors' goalkeeper when Darwin Núñez scored to make it 1-0.

After equalizing in the meantime (58th minute / Conor Bradley's own goal), Liverpool had to wait until the 76th minute before they were able to get back on course for victory thanks to Argentinian World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister. Substitute Cody Gakpo then scored the final goal in the 90th minute.

The three-way battle in the Premier League remains highly exciting. On Wednesday, Arsenal did their duty with a 2-0 win over Luton Town and defending champions Manchester City increased the pressure on their rivals with a 4-1 win over Aston Villa.

Liverpool lead the table with 70 points with eight games remaining, while the Gunners are second with 68 points. City are in third place with 67 points.
