Governors’ Conference started with a group photo
The Governors' Conference began on Tuesday with a chic group photo in front of the Landhaus in St. Pölten. At the meeting, host Johanna Mikl-Leitner (ÖVP) wants to focus on the topics of Europe, property and strengthening volunteering. Renewable energies will also be discussed.
The provincial governors already met on Tuesday for preliminary discussions and a joint dinner. Mikl-Leitner will be joined at the press conference on Wednesday by Peter Kaiser (SPÖ) from Carinthia, who previously chaired the Governors' Conference, and Thomas Stelzer (ÖVP) from Upper Austria as his successor in this role.
"Special responsibility in uncertain times"
"We can best overcome the challenges together if the federal government, provinces, cities and municipalities pull together. We in the federal states are aware of our special responsibility in uncertain times," said Mikl-Leitner at the start of the conference.
The people of Austria "need security, stability and reliability more than ever", and today's LH Conference will ensure this - "across all federal states and parties", the ÖVP politician stated.
