Russia in fear
Secret service prevents another terrorist attack
One week after the devastating terrorist attack on the Crocus City Hall near Moscow, the Russian secret service FSB says it has been able to prevent another attack in the country.
Three suspected perpetrators from a "Central Asian country" were arrested, the FSB domestic intelligence service announced on Friday evening. The suspects had wanted to detonate an explosive device in a public square in the Stavropol region.
The FSB had "put an end to the terrorist activities of three citizens of a Central Asian country", according to the intelligence service's statement published by Russian news agencies. This came exactly one week after an attack was carried out on a concert hall near Moscow. More than 140 people were killed.
Worst attack in 20 years
It was the worst attack in Russia in the past 20 years. Immediately afterwards, the jihadist militia Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the attack. This is considered credible by Western intelligence services. Despite this, the Russian authorities and services spread the version that the attackers had links to Ukraine - without providing any evidence.
