Giants in Salzburg
The new Giant celebrates its premiere
The Graz footballers will be fighting for their third win in as many games in Salzburg on Saturday. The Giants can already count on their new legionnaire Devonte Myles, who was signed as a replacement for MJ Hampton. Hopes are certainly high.
A perfect start! That was it with two wins for the Graz Giants footballers in the new season. On Saturday, the Giants travel to Salzburg. It will be the first ever appearance in the new AFL season for the team from Mozartstadt.
"A good replacement"
Graz can already rely on their new weapon in the clash, as Devonte Myles, a legionnaire, makes his debut. He was found at short notice following the injury to MJ Hampton. "He's a good replacement because he's athletic and a strong tackler," says coach Michael Mattingly, convinced of the new signing. "He's the last piece of the puzzle in our defense - an aggressive and fast safety. Exactly what we were looking for."
The American last played at the University of New Haven, where he was also captain twice. "He was very successful in his division. Devonte is a leading figure and has settled in well straight away," said a delighted Christoph Kipperer, Head of Sport. In the previous week, Myles was on the sideline as support in the game in Mödling. This week, however, he wants to be on the pitch himself and step on the gas.
