German tried to save child – both drowned!
The heroic efforts of a German tourist in Spain unfortunately cost the 32-year-old his life on Thursday. The tourist wanted to rescue a 16-year-old who had fallen into the sea during stormy weather. The teenager did not survive the accident either.
The tragedy occurred on the Mediterranean coast near Tarragona, as reported by the German newspaper "Bild". A teenager was in danger of drowning in the churning waters near Fortí de la Reina - the German then jumped into the water to save the 16-year-old.
There are many rocks at the scene of the accident. Two helicopters and rescue boats were deployed to pull the child and the 32-year-old out of the water, but their efforts were in vain. The teenager and the young man drowned.
According to police sources, the 16-year-old was reportedly traveling with a group of people of the same age. A spokesperson for the executive reported that he was of Moroccan descent. The German is said to have been in Spain with his partner.
Two more people drowned during storm
The storm claimed the lives of two more people. A British man was caught by a wave in the north of the country and swept into the sea while the storm "Nelson" was raging. Just a few kilometers away, a Spanish woman who had suffered a similar fate to the Briton drowned. The authorities warned people not to approach the coast.
