City boss and noble fan
Witty encouragement ahead of the highlight for Blau-Weiß!
Only against the Viennese clubs has Blau-Weiß been unable to pick up any points so far, but on Friday it should work out at Austria. Beforehand, city boss Klaus Luger and noble fan Christian Reisenbichler encourage the Linzers in a funny video - including Simon Pirkl's girlfriend, who plays for Austria!
"Please don't shit yourselves! We won't get relegated this year! That's the way it looks," shouts cult fan Christian Reisenbichler, dressed in a blue and white jersey and pirate headscarf, into the camera and clenches his fist. "So schaumma aus, Linza!", adds Mayor Klaus Luger next to him in his fine thread. And: "Let's go blue and white, fight and win!" With this witty video (see below), the duo encourages the promoted team for the final phase of the relegation battle. It starts today at Austria after the international break. So far, the Vienna clubs are the only ones against whom the promoted team has yet to score: 0:5 (h) and 0:1 (a) against Rapid, 0:4 (a) and 1:2 (h) against Austria, for whom ex-LASK professional Andi Gruber scored four times.
Linz ace's girlfriend plays for Austria
"We were a long way off in the first match, but in the second we were right there! We made good use of the international break, have a great atmosphere in the team and are a disgusting opponent," says Simon Pirkl, who has a special "relationship" with Austria: His girlfriend Lena Triendl plays for Violett - also on the left wing! Who is she rooting for in Saturday's clash? "She's always happy when I win," grins the 26-year-old,
Who is she rooting for? "She's always happy when I win," grins the 26-year-old, whose team have picked up just one point in their last six away games, while Austria have not been beaten in eleven home games - and have even won all of them in 2024. BW Linz coach Gerald Scheiblehner says ahead of the trip to Favoriten: "We've achieved our best results against the teams in front, this is another one of those highlight games - we find it a little easier against teams with a stronger game. We're going to Vienna with absolute belief!"
