Monkey noises against Salzburg crack Ali Wukovits

Racism scandal at the ice hockey semi-final between HCB Südtirol and Red Bull Salzburg (3:2) on Tuesday evening: Bulls crack Ali Wukovits was racially insulted in the final phase of the game in Bolzano.

There were apparently several racist shouts and monkey noises against the Salzburg forward, who also used to play for the Vienna Capitals.

Proceedings initiated
The ICE Hockey League announced on Wednesday that an investigation had been initiated into discriminatory comments and loud noises made by fans at the departure of a Salzburg player. The affected clubs, match officials and local league representatives have been asked to submit statements and reports of their perceptions, the league said on Wednesday.

Depending on this, the ICE legal commission dealing with the case will make a decision. At the same time, the league emphasized that it categorically rejects any form of xenophobia and discrimination.

Bolzano tied the semi-final against Red Bull Salzburg 2-2 on Tuesday with a 3-2 win. The next game in the series will take place in Salzburg on Thursday.
