Girl (8) sucked into pipe in hotel pool – dead!
An eight-year-old girl was sucked into a pipe in a hotel pool in the USA and drowned. The girl's mother has now filed a lawsuit, according to US media reports. The child was "forcibly sucked into a 30 to 40 centimeter unsecured opening in the swimming pool's current system", according to the statement of claim. The accident had already happened on Saturday.
The family had rented a room in the hotel in Houston, Texas, to enjoy a day of swimming together. In the afternoon, the girl suddenly disappeared. The mother was desperately looking for her daughter Aliyah Jaico and asked the hotel to view the images from the surveillance cameras. However, the video footage was only viewed after the woman reported the child missing to the police.
Rescue operation lasting several hours
The video footage showed the girl sinking into the pool and not resurfacing. The eight-year-old's body was only recovered the following day after an operation lasting several hours, US media reported.
She was discovered in the "pipes of the defective pool system", according to the statement of claim. The mother is claiming damages of more than one million dollars.
