The first of eleven
First AUA Dreamliner has landed safely in Vienna
After several delays, Austrian Airlines (AUA) has received its first of a total of eleven Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners on order. The long-haul aircraft landed in Vienna on Tuesday evening.
On arrival, the aircraft was still painted in the colors of the previous Vietnamese operator Bamboo Airways.
The Dreamliner is scheduled to enter service for AUA in the course of the 2024 summer timetable.
The Boeing 787, marketed by the manufacturer under the nickname Dreamliner, is a long-haul aircraft from the crisis-hit American aircraft manufacturer Boeing. It is the successor to the Boeing 767 and was only successfully built after a number of technical problems (including the materials used).
It is the first wide-body aircraft - i.e. a plane with at least two aisles in the passenger cabin - whose fuselage is largely made of carbon fiber-reinforcing plastic. The first Dreamliner took off in 2011.
