Through a 30 zone at 95
New law: speeding driver (39) has his car confiscated
He is the first speeding driver to feel the effects of the amended law: since March 1, speeders have been risking their cars, and now a 39-year-old in Eisenerz has been caught. On Tuesday afternoon, he drove at 95 km/h through the 30 km/h limit in the local area.
It was a routine traffic check carried out by police officers in the Eisenerz area on Tuesday afternoon. They were standing in the area of Hieflauer Straße with their radar gun when a car sped past them at 52 km/h. But that was not all. But that was not all: shortly afterwards, the driver accelerated to 95 km/h in the 30 km/h zone.
39-year-old Hungarian confessed
The police officers took up the chase and were able to stop the 150 hp car in a nearby supermarket parking lot. The 39-year-old driver, a Hungarian from the district of Leoben, confessed. However, he did not want to reveal how fast he had been driving. Alcohol was probably not involved.
Car and driver's license gone
For the first time in Styria since the amendment to the law came into force at the beginning of March, it was now time to take away the car! The car was towed away by order of the Leoben district authority. The harsh result of his joyride: the police took away his license and car - and added a citation on top.
