Bulls made life difficult for themselves with penalties in semi-final game four. Another comeback from 0:3 down failed in Bolzano. After the 3:2 defeat, the series is now tied 2:2. Shortly before the siren, the fists were still flying.

The ice hockey league rejoiced that the 100,000 spectator mark was broken in the play-offs on Sunday. The Eisbullen fans also played a part in this, ensuring a sold-out ice arena (with 3,400 spectators) for the first time. In the ice wave yesterday, 5000 ice hockey tigers cheered Bolzano's 3:2 in the fourth semi-final duel and the series equalizer.

Which the Bulls conceded in the cool box after the game only really got going in the middle period. The South Tyroleans, who had Halmo and Frank back in the line-up and had taken the lead shortly before the break, relied on provocation and toughness.

Digiacinto had Murphy in his sights twice - Lewington wanted the fight but didn't get it. Instead, he was given two minutes for dropping his gloves. In the power play, Gazley skilfully delayed Stapelfeldt and scored to make it 2:0. Salzburg was pressing, but Schilling (check to the head) was sent off the ice with five plus game time - the referees had used the video for the third time. The 0:3 was scored while short-handed.

Which the champions were unable to equalize this time. The comeback was strong, but only Mario Huber and Nissner scored. Before the fists flew in the hot finish after a commotion in front of keeper Harvey. A foretaste of the Maundy Thursday encounter in Salzburg.

"Frustrating, we started better than at home, but not good enough. Then it's 0:3 again, it's not easy to catch up," moaned Lucas Thaler.

KAC awaits in the final
The Carinthians took advantage of their first match puck and completed the sweep (4:0 wins) with a 5:3 victory at Pustertal. They now have a long break before the start of the final (April 5).

In the Alps League, the RB Juniors also took the series 2:2 in the semi-finals: Cortina won 4:1 in the ice arena.
