Drunken truck driver stopped by police
This could have ended in a disaster in Easter traffic! Apparently heavily intoxicated, a truck driver from Russia was behind the wheel while driving through Tyrol. The man was caught because he had rammed barriers on the Inntal highway in several places.
German officers alerted colleagues from the Tyrolean highway police to the truck driver on Tuesday. The driver had hit the crash barrier several times. The Tyrolean police were able to locate the driver in the Langkampfen parking lot. It quickly became clear to the officers that the 48-year-old Russian was heavily intoxicated. This was confirmed by an alcohol test.
Accident in a roadworks area
The Russian is said to have hit more than just the guard rail with his heavy vehicle. According to investigations, the narrowing of the road in the Wörgl-Angath roadworks area was probably too tricky a bottleneck for the impaired driver. The man is said to have hit the concrete crash barrier in the roadworks area several times.
The 48-year-old's driver's license was confiscated on the spot. He had to pay a security deposit of several thousand euros and will be charged.
