A storm has been sweeping across large parts of the country since Tuesday morning. The Föhn storm is particularly noticeable in Strasshof, Gänserndorf district in Lower Austria, and Vienna - and can also be seen, as a reader reporter from the "Krone" newspaper describes. 

The "Krone" reader reporter couldn't believe his eyes on Tuesday when he drove through Strasshof and saw how a hurricane-like storm enveloped the houses and covered them in dirt. "At first I thought there was a fire and smoke somewhere," says the reader reporter. Visibility was as miserable as if the town was shrouded in thick fog.

Wind warning
But the Sahara-like dust comes from the fields, the foehn storm and the gusts whirl it up and carry it meters high through the air. A storm warning has been issued for Holy Week, especially for Tuesday and Wednesday.

From the main ridge of the Tyrolean Alps to East Tyrol and Carinthia, increasingly dense clouds accumulated and some rain fell in places towards the evening. In the east and in the northern Alps, strong to stormy, foehn-like southerly winds will freshen up and temperatures will rise to between 10 and 18 degrees.
