Seeing the light of day on the way to hospital

Little Jakob was on his way faster than expected. Although the paramedics from the Pregarten Red Cross arrive at the North family's home within a few minutes and leave again shortly afterwards, they don't make it to the hospital. Jakob is born safe and sound halfway in the ambulance.

"Once it was clear that it would be quick, we prepared for the birth and met up with the emergency team in Unterweitersdorf so that the emergency doctor could get in," say Eugen Greindl and Benedikt Eibensteiner. The journey towards the hospital continues together, with the father also on board. When they reach Dornach, the time has come and Jakob doesn't want to wait any longer. So they leave the highway and stop the vehicles.

"Fond memories of the birth"
In the presence of dad Maximilian and Dr. Michaela Aigner, Jakob is born in the rescue car - safe and sound. "Everyone performed their role as obstetricians brilliantly and we always had the feeling that we were in good hands. We were looked after very lovingly and professionally," says mother Stefanie North, who also used to work as a paramedic at the Pregarten Red Cross. "The joy that everything went well was huge for everyone and we will always have fond memories of Jakob's birth," she adds, overjoyed.

Visit to young family
Recently, paramedics Eugen Greindl and Benedikt Eibensteiner with emergency physician Dr. Michaela Aigner and emergency paramedic Thomas Munz from the Freistadt emergency medical service visited the family of Stefanie and Maximilian North with their sons Anton and Jakob at home and congratulated them once again.
