Temperatures are finally reaching spring-like levels and the cycling season in Austria is starting. Around Lake Wörthersee and Lake Ossiach, one day each will therefore be a car-free day and with the "Krone" you can win 4x2 overnight stays for two people each. The sense of togetherness among cyclists is incredible and that's what makes the Wörthersee car-free and the Ossiacher See car-free events so special," enthuses Ursula Mayer from the organization team: "As a cyclist, you absolutely have to experience this at least once." For one whole day a year, all cars are banned from the area around the two bathing lakes. "People get on their bikes, even build their own trailers to take their four-legged friends with them and enjoy cycling around the lakes undisturbed," says Ursula.

Everyone is welcome, from cyclists to skaters
It's understandable that the car-free cycling events in the south of Austria have long been something of a secret start to the summer season. All bars and restaurants are open and offer cyclists special creations such as bike burgers and more. The "Krone" Cycling & Skating Day Ossiacher See car-free on April 21 (27 kilometers), which takes place for the 19th time this year, kicks off the season before the 27th Kelag Cycling & Skating Day around Lake Wörthersee (44 kilometers) on April 28.

Anyone can take part. The "Krone" and Bärenbikes, the Carinthian e-bike manufacturer, offer a bike service along the routes. "Quick and small repairs are possible on site," says Christlopher Krenn from Bärenbikes. And for those traveling from further afield, the tourist regions of Klagenfurt, Wörthersee and Villach-Faaker See and Ossiacher See even offer their own short break packages.
