Leadership duo remains
Saalfelden’s municipal politics are now more colorful
SPÖ mayor Erich Rohrmoser won the run-off election against ÖVP challenger Haslinger. This means that the leadership duo will remain, but the municipal council will nevertheless become more colorful.
The historically red Saalfelden will also be led by a red man for the next five years: Erich Rohrmoser won his first run-off election. 3939 Saalfelden residents voted for the mayor, who has been in office since 2013, while 3281 voted for challenger Thomas Haslinger (ÖVP). In an interview with "Krone", Rohrmoser was really pleased with the result after a tough election campaign: "The voters have given me a strong mandate. Now we will all work together for Saalfelden to achieve the best for the town."
Although the leadership duo of Rohrmoser as mayor and Haslinger as deputy mayor is likely to remain in place, municipal politics will become more colorful thanks to the electoral success of the Citizens' Forum (four seats won).
