Drunk truck driver stopped during inspection

Serious defects - including on the brakes - were discovered on a truck during an inspection. To make matters worse, the driver was also drunk.

Officers from the Matrei police carried out heavy traffic checks at the checkpoint in Leisach on Thursday morning. When checking a truck, the police discovered that the Ukrainian driver was under the influence of alcohol. A test showed a value over the limit of 0.5 per mille.

As if that were not enough, the Ukrainian driver's vehicle was also found to have some serious defects. In cooperation with the experts from Asfinag, a total of 13 defects were found, including on the service braking system. The truck driver was prohibited from continuing his journey and a security deposit was collected. Charges will follow.
