Her fans will have to wait a little longer for public appearances from Catherine (42), Princess of Wales - but that doesn't mean she's just twiddling her thumbs. On the contrary: Kensington Palace has now confirmed an important project for which Kate has resumed work.

Although Catherine has to recover from her abdominal operation, Prince William's wife (41) is not letting herself be distracted from certain tasks. According to insider reports, Kate is not only not accepting any help at home, she is also returning to her work as a senior royal around two months after her operation - albeit more behind the scenes. Kensington Palace confirmed this to the Express on March 21.

She returns to work for a subject close to her heart
Kate's duties as Senior Royal include public appearances and work for patronages, charitable projects and personal causes close to her heart. The latter, at least, Kate could also do from her home office and does not have to go out in public to do so. A statement from the palace suggests that Kate is busy doing just that.

On behalf of the "Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales", the mother of three is particularly committed to shaping early childhood. The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood focuses its work on the first and very formative years of every person's life.

"The Princess was kept in the loop"
According to the Express, Early Childhood has now helped to fund a baby monitoring tool. The device is currently being tested and will be used by health advisors in the future to better monitor the social and emotional development of infants and detect early signs.

Kate visited Denmark in February 2022 to observe a similar system there. Kate then invested in a four-month trial in the UK with her Early Childhood Project.

On March 21, the Centre for Early Childhood published information on its website about the "overwhelmingly positive results" of the study. The Express also quoted a palace spokesperson: "The Princess has been kept informed throughout the trial."

Although the court's statement could hardly be more sober, it is a first, according to the Express: It is the first communication released about Catherine's projects and her work since she underwent abdominal surgery in mid-January. Following the planned procedure, Kate's team postponed numerous appointments that were scheduled for the weeks and months that followed.

Archbishop comments on Kate rumors
Recently, there has been wild speculation about Kate's absence. In light of speculation about Princess Kate's health, the Archbishop of Canterbury has criticized the spread of rumours, particularly on social media.

"I think we are obsessed with conspiracies and have little sympathy for those who become the focus of the news," the spiritual leader of the Anglican Church, Justin Welby, told Times Radio on Thursday.

Speculation on the internet is "old-fashioned village gossip"
"It doesn't matter who it's about: people should be allowed to be ill, have surgery, whatever it is, and live their lives in peace without everyone asking them to prove something every other day," Welby said.

He believes that the fact that speculation and conspiracy theories spread quickly is due to the internet. "It's extremely unhealthy. It's just old-fashioned village gossip that can now spread around the world in seconds and we need to turn away from it."

Opposition leader Keir Starmer also called for the future Queen to be left alone. "She had a difficult operation and the right to privacy," said the leader of the Social Democratic Labor Party.

Wild rumors about Kate
According to the palace, Princess Kate underwent abdominal surgery in mid-January. She has been recovering since then and is not due to return to public appointments until after Easter. Her exact diagnosis has not been revealed.

Since then, there has been much speculation about the condition of Kate, who is married to heir to the throne Prince William. An affair, bottom surgery or even a coma - numerous wild speculations about Kate's state of health are currently circulating online. Most recently, the "Mirror" newspaper reported that up to three employees of the private clinic where Kate was treated are said to have tried to view her medical records. The hospital announced an investigation.
