ÖBB gears up
Automatically saved draft
A turbulent travel period is expected around Easter. ÖBB is creating an extra 15,000 extra seats for this.
The Easter vacations begin on Friday, which are particularly busy travel days of the year. Many traffic jams are to be expected throughout Austria. The construction sites between Villach-Faaker See and the Villach-Ost junction and on the Tauernautobahn between Spittal-Ost and Paternion are critical points in Carinthia. Travelers will have to expect longer waiting times here, especially from Maundy Thursday to Easter Monday. There are also likely to be delays in front of the Karawanken tunnel. Increased traffic volumes are also to be expected on federal and provincial roads.
Reserve seats
ÖBB is creating an additional 30 train connections and around 15,000 additional seats from March 22 to April 1. The aim is to prevent renewed problems with public holiday traffic and passengers being left behind on platforms. The Railjets will be extended and ÖBB is asking passengers to reserve a seat. The additional trains are spread over the whole day.
