Adrian Goiginger vies for German Film Award
Director Adrian Goiginger has been nominated in five categories for the German Film Award. But he doesn't think he has many chances. He told the "Krone" why.
During lunch, so many congratulations suddenly fluttered in on my cell phone. I didn't know what for at first," laughs director Adrian Goiginger. The solution to the riddle came promptly: the Salzburg native has been nominated for the German Film Award with his film "The Fox" - several times over. He is competing for the popular international award in a total of five categories.
"I'm especially happy for my team: for Simon Morzé, who is nominated for Best Leading Actor, and my cinematographers Yoshi Heimrath and Paul Sprinz," says Goiginger in an interview with "Krone". "The Fox" is also nominated for best screenplay, which was written by Goiginger himself, and best visual effects.
Despite the many nominations, Goiginger remains calm: "I'd rather not count on too many chances. It's the first time we've been nominated for the German Film Award. If it doesn't work out, at least the disappointment won't be so great."
The Austrian-German co-production "A Whole Life" by Hans Steinbichler, based on a book by Viennese author Robert Seethaler, has also been nominated in the categories best sound design, best production design and best make-up, as well as having a chance of winning best feature film. The winners of the awards will be announced in Berlin on May 3. Last year, the drama "Das Lehrerzimmer" by Ilker Catak won the "Golden Lola" for best feature film.
