Wrong-way driver reports to the police

The wrong-way driver who caused anxious moments on the Rhine Valley highway near Bregenz on Monday has reported to the police: It is a 59-year-old Austrian man. 

As reported, the man had turned his car around on the emergency lane directly in front of the Pfänder Tunnel and then drove as a wrong-way driver for around 150 meters before turning around again and finally speeding off in the direction of Germany. Two other road users just managed to avoid a collision.

When asked about the reason for this crazy maneuver, he stated that he had been distracted and had therefore lost sight of the road ahead. The man will be reported to the public prosecutor's office in Feldkirch once the investigation has been completed.
