"Task force" plans
World Ski Championships 2025 in Saalbach: 300 police officers on duty
Austria's police force wants to do its part to ensure that the Alpine World Ski Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm (February 4 to 16, 2025) go off without a hitch. 300 police officers will be on duty. Units from other federal states will also be called in as required. Drone teams will transmit live images to the operations centers to provide an overview of the situation.
This was announced on Monday at a press conference of the "Task Force Winter Sports World Championships" with Interior Minister Gerhard Karner and ÖSV President Roswitha Stadlober. Around 15,000 fans are expected for each of the competitions, plus a further 15,000 people at the race course. The traffic concept is currently being worked out. Appropriate emergency routes will be set up to allow emergency vehicles to travel unhindered.
"Small dress rehearsal"
"We've had a great ski festival so far with the World Cup final, despite challenging weather conditions. For us, these two weeks are a small dress rehearsal for the 2025 World Ski Championships, also in terms of the work of the emergency services and traffic. Until the World Championships, we will implement the lessons we have learned from the dress rehearsal and, among other things, complete an emergency road into Glemmtal," reported Mayor Alois Hasenauer.
At the current World Cup finals, the Super-G and Downhill races are still on the program from Friday to Sunday.
