SPG coach Stocker:
“No matter who we play, we want our first home win”
SPG Lustenau/Dornbirn are playing their first season in the Admiral Women's Bundesliga. It has been a bumpy one so far, with Klaus Stocker and his team second last. However, the coach is confident that this will change in the spring.
In the first half of the season, promoted SPG Lustenau/Dornbirn still had to struggle with "calibration problems" and finished the fall in second-to-last place with five points. However, Klaus Stocker is now starting the spring with a different team. "We've come together in a completely different way. We're talking, we've made huge steps," says the SPG coach happily.
And that's why he and his girls are now eager for the spring opener in the Admiral Women's Bundesliga. "If we carry on like this, we'll have nothing to do with relegation," says Stocker.
Key player Van der Vliet
Apart from the long-term injured Tamara Saric (syndesmosis ligament) and Chiara Dünser (meniscus), everyone is on board. Carina Brunold will make her Bundesliga debut in the starting eleven against Sturm on Saturday. Stocker sees Emily van der Vliet as a key player. "She shuttles between six and eight in midfield and holds the center together."
And Stocker doesn't care that Sturm will be a strong opponent in the opener. "It doesn't matter who we play, we want to finally celebrate our first home win!"
