After the one-day strike by the train drivers' union GDL, Deutsche Bahn is back on track with a normal timetable (see video above). Traffic was stable early Wednesday morning, said a company spokesperson.

However, passengers would have to be prepared for full trains today, Wednesday, as many people would be making up their journeys. The usual timetable for long-distance, regional and S-Bahn services is now back on track. The strike on Tuesday also led to several cancellations in Austria, for example on ÖBB's Vienna-Munich Railjet connections. As reported, the union staged a strike on passenger transport from Tuesday night until 2 a.m. on Wednesday night. In freight transport, work was already suspended on Monday evening.

The sixth strike in the wage dispute with Deutsche Bahn led to considerable restrictions for passengers as well as the Group's industrial customers. On Monday and Tuesday, the company failed in its attempt to stop the strike in court by means of a temporary injunction.

Next strike at Easter?
The GDL union is fighting for higher salaries and fewer working hours at Deutsche Bahn. It wants shift workers to work only 35 hours a week instead of the previous 38 for the same pay. Instead, Deutsche Bahn proposed reducing working hours to 36 hours per week in two stages by 2028. The GDL rejected this and also broke off talks.

Further strikes would no longer be announced 48 hours in advance, but at shorter notice. Strikes over Easter were also not ruled out.
