Boat had capsized
68-year-old man survives crocodile attack in Florida
A man survived a crocodile attack in the Everglades National Park in the US state of Florida on Sunday after his boat capsized. 68-year-old Rodrigo Constain was in the water trying to right his boat when a crocodile suddenly bit into his leg for several seconds.
The victim reported the dramatic situation: "I know that my leg was trapped. So I put my hands in its mouth, it was a long mouth. That's why it's a crocodile and not an alligator."
Bite wound reached the bone
Rangers were eventually able to pull Constain out of the water and he was flown to hospital. According to doctors, the bite wound extends to the bone. It will be a month before the man is fit again.
American crocodiles are considered endangered. There are 1.8 million alligators in the Everglades and only 2000 crocodiles. Attacks are rare; the last attack on a human was ten years ago
