This year too, people are not skimping on Easter presents

On average, Upper Austrians spend 60 euros on the right Easter present. Retailers are expecting business to be successful again this year, with sales of 45 million euros. The "Krone" asked the experts what is particularly trendy this year and which gifts always work.

"Easter is a traditional festival where little changes in terms of gifts. The focus is on children and families," says Ernst Wiesinger, Chairman of the Trade Division of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce. According to a study, 80 percent of Upper Austrians give presents to someone. But what are the most popular gifts?

60 euros per gift
"A lot has been going in the direction of flowers recently. Toys for children and chocolate are also very popular," says Wiesinger. More and more often, however, the recipients can decide for themselves what they actually want: Vouchers or cash, thank you very much. A wellness trip or dinner in a fancy restaurant is particularly popular with adults. The average Easter present in Upper Austria is worth 60 euros.

45 million euros expected
"We have no fear that savings measures will lead to less shopping," says Wiesinger, hoping that business will be successful. Last year, bricks-and-mortar retailers in Upper Austria generated Easter sales of 41 million euros. This year, an increase to around 45 million euros is expected.
