Pile-up on the A2 caused a traffic jam
A pile-up involving eight cars caused a mega traffic jam on the southern highway near Graz in the early hours of the morning. This meant up to 50 minutes of lost time for many commuters.
Once again, the current wet road conditions caused an accident in Styria. This time, eight vehicles were hit on the A2 south highway - the effects were felt by many commuters in early morning traffic.
Ten kilometers of traffic jam
At 7.15 a.m., a pile-up occurred near the Graz-Ost exit in the direction of Klagenfurt. A 56-year-old woman from Weiz braked hard in the first lane because she suddenly felt unwell. The following drivers were unable to stop in time and crashed into each other.
Two women slightly injured
A 28-year-old woman and a 39-year-old woman were slightly injured - they had to be treated at Graz Regional Hospital. The 56-year-old driver was able to drive on independently. A total of eight vehicles were involved in the accident, six of which had to be towed away from the scene.
Due to the early morning traffic, a traffic jam of around ten kilometers quickly built up. Several tow trucks were deployed and two of three lanes were blocked. The accident caused a time loss of up to 50 minutes. The traffic jam stretched back as far as Laßnitzhöhe in places.
