Life imprisonment after murder of US tourist
The 31-year-old man who first tried to rape two young US tourists not far from Neuschwanstein Castle in June 2023 and then pushed them both into the ravine there was sentenced to life imprisonment on Monday.
On Monday, the district court in Kempten classified the crime committed by the man, who is also from the USA, as murder, attempted murder and rape resulting in death. As a result, the prison sentence will probably not be suspended after just 15 years.
Woman plunged 50 meters into the abyss
The accused had admitted that he had attacked the two female friends in mid-June 2023 on a hiking trail near the Marienbrücke bridge in Schwangau and then threw them into a ravine about 50 meters deep. One of the 21-year-olds died in hospital after the attack, while her companion, who was a year older, was seriously injured.
