Drivers ran out of licenses after car race
First they had a gas foot, then they walked! In Traun, a 19-year-old probationary driver's license holder and a 27-year-old felt the need to race each other. What they hadn't expected: The police were there as "spectators" and stopped the madness.
On Sunday afternoon, a traffic patrol from the provincial traffic department was on the B1. In the municipality of Traun, two drivers attracted attention with their risky driving. The two were driving side by side and suddenly accelerated considerably.
133 instead of 70 km/h
The patrol took up the pursuit. Meanwhile, the two speeding drivers were traveling at an average speed of 133 km/h instead of the permitted 70 km/h. Both drivers, a 19-year-old probationary license holder from Marchtrenk and a 27-year-old from Linz, were eventually taken out of the race. They have now lost their driving licenses and have been banned from continuing to drive.
Drug driver caught
At around 10 p.m., a 30-year-old man from Wels was stopped in Wels for a driver and vehicle check. Symptoms of drug impairment were detected and a preliminary test was positive. A clinical examination by a doctor confirmed that he was unfit to drive. His driver's license - which he had only recently got back after a withdrawal for driving under the influence of drugs - was again temporarily taken away from him. All drivers will be reported to the police.
