Coach Roman Ellensohn resigned after just four games. Head of sport Orie takes over until the end of the season, while assistant coach Murad Gerdi is also given new responsibilities. The next chapter in the drama that Dornbirn is experiencing this season.

"I actually thought I would be able to spend a relaxing Sunday at my daughter's concert. And then suddenly we're without a coach again," said Dornbirn sporting director Eric Orie, hardly able to believe the next chapter in this terrible season for the Rothosen.

Before the morning training session on Sunday, coach Roman Ellensohn, who had only taken over the team in the spring preparations and played four games in the league, informed the club management of his resignation. This came as a surprise to everyone involved. "We drove eight hours home together on the bus on Saturday, so everything was still normal," says Orie. "Roman will have his reasons. But he certainly didn't come under any pressure from us. On the contrary, we were fully behind him."

Not much time
How things will continue at the Rothosen for the time being has been clarified. Ellensohn's assistant coach Murad Gerdi will take on further tasks, while Orie himself will also join the coaching staff. A logical solution, there wasn't really any other option. Resources - both money and time - are too scarce in Dornbirn for that. "I didn't impose myself, but we needed a quick decision. We don't have time. And I'm not avoiding responsibility," the head of sport clarifies, "I'm sorry for Roman, I still believe it was an opportunity for him."

Now the sporting director needs the support of the team, which is in a difficult situation. Far too much background noise this season. "I hope the players will join in," says Orie, "we're playing the derby in Bregenz at the weekend - hopefully we can prove ourselves there."
