Through Kellergasse: way to the wine tavern free again
The roadblock in Vienna-Floridsdorf did not last long. After protests, the ban on the Kellergasse was lifted again.
After just one year, Floridsdorf's district politicians now want to take the strong protests of the population into account and lift the temporary ban on driving through Stammersdorfer Kellergasse in the direction of Lower Austria and Vienna. From March 1 to October 31, i.e. during the wine tavern season, the road was closed to private traffic.
Free travel from Monday to Friday
In future, Kellergasse, an important link between Vienna and Lower Austria, will once again be open to traffic without restrictions from Monday to Friday; the road will only be closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. "This will eliminate daily detours, especially for motorized commuters, and access to the Heurigen will be free again. In addition, the traffic volume in Stammersdorf's old town, which has increased noticeably since the closure came into force last year, and the congestion at the junction with Brünner Straße will be reduced," says former district councillor Hans Jörg Schimanek.
