Lamparter again only beaten by Riibert
Serial winner Jarl Magnus Riiber has once again won his home Nordic Combined World Cup in Oslo and Johannes Lamparter was once again his closest rival. The Norwegian won in 23:49.8 minutes, 1:10.6 minutes ahead of the Austrian. Franz-Josef Rehrl, who had long been in third place, had to let Estonia's Kristjan Ilves take the lead in the finish, with Rehrl coming fourth (+2:29.5).
Stefan and Thomas Rettenegger were also back in the top ten in eighth and ninth place. A crash on the last lap, in which both brothers were involved, cost them both a possible top six finish.
"I'm very happy with my performance on the cross-country ski run, that's more than I expected," said a delighted Riiber after his 73rd World Cup victory.
"Really cool day"
Lamparter was also happy. "I had a really cool day today, I had a 'hit' on the hill, only Jarl was a class above," said last year's overall World Cup winner. He was very much alone on the cross-country ski run. "A cool weekend for me, second twice and now we're looking forward to the big final."
Rehrl was delighted with a very good jump. "In the run, the goal was to finish on the podium, all or nothing. It looked good, but unfortunately Ilves came close. I still have a chance (of the podium)."
