Drama at a party: Tractor carrying revelers overturns

An exuberant party ended in tragedy in a small Innviertel community. At a party, a group of eight men were driving a tractor and trailer when the parapet of the trailer suddenly broke on a bend. One man was seriously injured.

The accident happened on Saturday at around 3.45 pm. A 32-year-old man was driving his tractor and trailer on the Koblstadt estate road in the municipality of St. Martin im Innkreis. At the time, there were eight people from a polter group on the trailer. When the 32-year-old steered the tractor-trailer combination into a right-hand bend, the left parapet or wooden railing of the trailer broke, causing several people to fall off the trailer.

Alcohol test was positive
The 32-year-old driver was tested for alcohol and tested positive. One man (32) was taken by helicopter to Linz University Hospital with serious injuries and is currently in intensive care.

Two other people (32 and 31) were admitted to Ried Hospital with injuries of indeterminate severity and have already been discharged. The other five people signed a lapel at the scene and refused medical treatment. The driver's license was temporarily confiscated on the spot. A report will be made to the public prosecutor's office.
