Argument during exam: lecturer shoots at students
A heated argument during an oral medical examination in Bangladesh has escalated completely. A lecturer suddenly pulled out a gun - and shot a student.
He did not know exactly what the argument was about. However, the shot was fired right in front of the victim's fellow students. The reason was a heated argument during the exam, a police spokesman told the German Press Agency on Thursday.
The 23-year-old victim has been in hospital since the incident on Monday, where his leg injury is being treated.
Act was "unintentional" according to the doctor
The lecturer was arrested after a protest by students on the campus of the Shaheed M Mansur Ali Medical College in the Sirajganj district. There was an investigation and the doctor had confessed to the crime - but said he had committed it "unintentionally", the police said.
Officers had found two pistols, 81 bullets and twelve knives in his bag, which he had possessed illegally. According to students, he had often displayed weapons at lectures.
