Already valid from May 14
Austrians may enter China without a visa in future
In future, Austrians wishing to travel to China can look forward to easier entry requirements. From May 14, the People's Republic of China will no longer require a visa.
Until now, Austrians between the ages of 14 and 71 have had to apply for a visa at the Chinese Visa Application Service Center. According to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, applicants' fingerprints are recorded.
This will soon come to an end. China will apply a visa waiver policy to Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Belgium and Luxembourg from May 14, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Thursday.
Some simplifications already now
Those who have only entered the country once or twice for tourism, trade, family visits, transit or as crew members no longer have to have their fingerprints taken and only have to fill out a "slimmed-down form".
