Former governor Nikki Haley is no longer running for president

Former governor Nikki Haley is no longer running for president of the USA. She lost on Super Tuesday in 14 US states against her internal party rival Donald Trump. 

The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday that Haley intends to drop out. The 52-year-old former US ambassador is therefore about to withdraw her candidacy and will announce her withdrawal in a speech later today. This was reported by people familiar with the matter. A statement from the politician was not yet available.

No chance against Trump
Nikki Haley only narrowly prevailed against the former president in the east coast state of Vermont with 50 to 46.1 percent of the vote (see video above). Trump even won the Republican primaries in conservative strongholds such as Texas with more than 70 percent and in more liberal states such as Virginia with more than 60 percent. Before Super Tuesday, Haley had been able to interrupt Trump's winning streak in the capital district of Washington D.C..

Even before the report, it was suspected that Haley could throw in the towel. "I expect Nikki Haley to quit and drop out. After tonight, there is no way for her to get the nomination," said Republican activist Kenny Nail at Trump's election party.

No internal competition for Biden
As expected, the race for the White House will now be a duel between Trump and incumbent Joe Biden. Biden has no serious competition in the internal party race.
