"Cried a few times"
Marcel Hirscher’s protégé is seriously injured
The next professional skier has to end the season prematurely: Charlie Raposo, the first "signing" of former ÖSV superstar Marcel Hirscher, suffered a serious injury during the giant slalom in Aspen. The bitter diagnosis: torn cruciate ligament and bone contusion in the shin.
It was a "long journey home", Raposo describes in his latest Instagram post. "I had a few nervous breakdowns, definitely cried a few times and certainly didn't smile the whole way home," says the Brit.
His full focus is now on his recovery. "I'm happy to be back home and to start preparing for the operation. Thanks to my team for bringing me home," writes the 28-year-old.
First skier on Hirscher skis
"All the best and a speedy recovery," commented former ÖSV skier Philipp Schörghofer on the former companion's post. Raposo was the first athlete to sign with Hirscher's ski manufacturer Van Deer. He has been relying on the poles of the eight-time overall World Cup winner since April 2022.
