ÖGV opens Europe’s largest indoor golf hall

On Tuesday, the Austrian Golf Association (ÖGV) opened what it claims is the largest indoor golf training hall in Europe at GC Fontana in Oberwaltersdorf.

750,000 euros were invested in the revitalization and construction of the Performance & Competence Center (PCC), which used to be an indoor tennis hall. The more than 2,500 m2 sports facility is a milestone for local golf, with junior players as well as the local and international elite now training here in one place.

"You have great simulation and measuring facilities here, where you can hone your game perfectly. The hall is also a great training facility for the national team squad, especially in winter," top golfer Lukas Nemecz told APA. The athletes have access to a fully mobile putting platform, different lengths of grass and numerous simulators in the PCC. The publicly funded facility also includes the new headquarters of the ÖGV. "It was very important to us that we also have the golf association here so that we really have a golf center in Austria," emphasized outgoing association president Peter Enzinger.

Numerous celebrities were present at the opening - from Austria's golf icon Markus Brier to Sport Austria President Hans Niessl, sports legends Armin Kogler and Franz Wittmann Senior to Kitzbühel Ski Club President Michael Huber and host Siegfried Wolf.
