Insolvencies: Black day for Carinthian businesses

Bad news: Bergbahnen Dreiländereck bankrupt, as are metalworkers & meat traders

Almost every minute on Tuesday afternoon, bankruptcy petitions worth millions were filed at the regional court in Klagenfurt: The sad prelude was made by Bergbahnen Dreiländereck, which - as reported - is left with 3.1 million euros in liabilities due to the poor season and high electricity costs. This affects 45 creditors and twelve employees; according to the credit protectors from KSV and AKV, there is hope for a restructuring plan - but none has yet been presented.

The next bankruptcy affects Zlanabitnig Metallbau in Fürnitz, which has almost 1.5 million euros in liabilities but is to continue as a going concern. And there is also bad news from Villach. Although the Easter business is imminent, I&K Vieh- und Fleischhandel is threatened with bankruptcy with debts of 1.4 million euros. The main shareholder is Ilgenfritz Produktion, which is seeking a quick cash injection. If funds can still be raised, a restructuring with a 20 percent quota is being considered.
