Bus accident in Graz: pedestrian was trapped

A medical emergency involving a bus driver caused a serious accident in Mariatroster Straße in Graz on Tuesday morning. The bus hit a pedestrian and then crashed into a store front.

A serious accident occurred in the middle of morning traffic on Mariatroster Straße in Graz at around 8 a.m. on Tuesday. The driver of a regional bus, who was traveling towards the city, had a medical emergency and lost control of the bus as a result.

Pedestrian hit and trapped
He hit a man who was walking on the sidewalk and subsequently crashed into a store front. Two other vehicles were also involved in the accident.

Pedestrian was responsive
The pedestrian was trapped under the bus and had to be freed by the Graz fire department using a spreader. He was responsive and was immediately treated by the emergency doctor and a team from the Red Cross.
