Man scammed cars, then wanted to pawn them
Pretty cheeky! A 30-year-old man from Kremsmünster (Upper Austria) has now been investigated by the police for defrauding numerous car dealers in the district of Gmunden. The man deceived the companies with forged bank transfer confirmations. He never paid for the cars, on the contrary.
After an intensive investigation lasting several weeks, officers from the Scharnstein police station were able to prove that the 30-year-old from the Kirchdorf district had committed several serious property crimes, including serious commercial fraud, embezzlement and forgery of documents.
Wife also involved
The man had bought cars from several car dealerships in the district of Gmunden and never paid for them. He deceived the car sellers with uncovered transfer confirmations from self-transfer machines at his bank and induced them to hand over the vehicles to him. In addition, the accused forged a power of attorney where he used his wife's name and signature.
Perpetrator fully confesses
However, he did not want to drive the cars. He pawned the vehicles, which had never been paid for, at a pawn shop in order to turn them into cash. When questioned, the 30-year-old fully confessed. After the investigations were completed and consultation with the public prosecutor's office in Wels, he was taken to Wels prison.
