"Scandalous professional"
Ex-Bayern talent: “I threw away my chance”
Michaël Cuisance has expressed regret over his missed chances at FC Bayern. "If I could try again today, I would make it," said the 24-year-old. He vehemently defends himself against the accusation of being arrogant.
"Today I know: I should have given 200 percent, done extra sessions. It was a great opportunity, but I threw it away. I wasn't ready, not even mentally," Cuisance told Sport Bild, expressing his self-criticism. He had the wrong attitude after his transfer and didn't work hard enough.
However, he vehemently refutes the accusation of being arrogant, which has come up time and again: "I wasn't arrogant, I treated my teammates with respect. But perhaps the new generation is a little different to the older one."
The 24-year-old is certain that with the experience he has now gained, he would make the breakthrough in Munich today: "But of course that's unrealistic at the moment. I want to get back to the top, I believe I have the potential to do so. But I'm taking it step by step."
Back in Germany
He played 13 competitive matches for Bayern and failed to impress. The talented youngster became increasingly frustrated and eventually clashed with coach Julian Nagelsmann. The Frenchman fled Munich and subsequently played for Sampdoria Genoa and Venice, among others, before moving to Osnabrück in the second German division.
"The Bundesliga, the people here, that suits me. I had my best time here," explains Cuisance. He has developed as a person anyway: "Today I work with a psychologist. That was a big step for me. Before, I was a coward for not accepting this help." The talks help him to clear his head.
