Linz & Wels eliminated in the European Cup semi-finals
The women from Linz AG Froschberg and the men from Felbermayr Wels bowed out of the European Table Tennis Cup in Poland on Saturday! The women from Linz lost the semi-final second leg of the Champions League at defending champions Tarnobrzeg 2:3, having already lost 0:3 at home. The Wels team were beaten 3-1 at Dzialdowo in the semi-finals of the Europe Cup, just as they had been at home.
Austria's women's champions kept up much better against the three-time Champions League winners this time than on Thursday, when they only won two sets.
Strong performances from Suthasini Sawettabut
Thailand's Suthasini Sawettabut was particularly convincing, first defeating Yu Fu and then the world number 13 Yang Xiaoxin 3:2. Sofia Polcanova lost 2:3 to Yang, Anastasia Sterner lost 1:3 to Elizabeta Samara and Ivana Malobabic was beaten 0:3 by Yu Fu in the fifth game.
Andreas Levenko and Felix Wetzel lost two and one match respectively for the Wels team, with Jiri Martinko scoring the point of honor.
