Serial burglars planned their coups from Poland

Within two months, criminals struck ten times in Lower Austria alone. A safe that had been broken into and disposed of in a Czech forest also involved investigators from the neighboring country and led to cross-border cooperation, which paid off.

It was the beginning of the end for the Georgian gang, who were accused of ten burglaries in the Waldviertel region alone within two months.

Safe led to new cooperation
A safe that was broken into and found in a Czech forest, which came from an "illegal entry" into a house in the municipality of Gastern, triggered cooperation between Lower Austrian and Czech investigators, which soon paid off. After burglaries in Karlstein, Niederedlitz and Waidhofen an der Thaya, the four Georgians were arrested in the city of Waidhofen, reports district police chief Paul Palisek.

Loot: gold ducats, jewelry, handgun
The men, aged between 32 and 35, always operated from Poland and are partially confessed. During their robberies in Lower Austria, they stole items worth 90,000 euros and caused damage of 17,000 euros. The burglars mainly took cash, jewelry, gold ducats and watches. However, cell phones, tablets, computers, silver coins and a handgun were also on the bag list.

Burglars always struck after dark
Without exception, the Georgians gained access to the homes at dusk under the cover of darkness. They did this either with a slotted screwdriver or a crowbar, which they used to force open windows and doors. They then searched the entire house.

Car acquired including Polish license plates
The group of perpetrators operated from Poland. They bought several different vehicles there, including the Polish license plates. They used these to drive to the Czech Republic and Austria and left there again after their successful burglaries.
