First of all: good politics is definitely not a question of age. Nevertheless, it makes you smile a little when People's Party "veteran" Peter Casny retires from politics at the age of 64 and his successor is ten years older than him. VP city deputy Martin Hajart: "Renate has earned it. I'm delighted to have her in the team."

Fresh blood" in the municipal council ranks of the Linz People's Party - instead of Stefan Pirc, Michael Obrovsky, who is next on the list, is taking his place. And "veteran" Peter Casny - who is leaving the Linz municipal council after 23 years for personal reasons - will be succeeded by Renate Schütz. The 74-year-old sociologist, mother of two daughters and proud grandmother of one grandchild, enjoys volunteering. Schütz has been politically active in the ÖVP for many years. The culture lover was active in the ÖVP Women's Party from 1999 to 2021 and has been a regular member of the Upper Austrian Seniors' Association since 2011.

"Senior citizens are particularly important to me"
"The needs of senior citizens are of particular concern to me, community is the most important goal for me - good communication between the generations is indispensable and necessary to promote social cohesion through mutual understanding," says the future local councillor.

Langbauer takes over deputy position
Peter Casny was also the deputy of club leader Michaela Sommer. This role will be taken on by 31-year-old local councillor Victoria Langbauer.
